After a longg day of moving I was craving a good pizza and fast! A fellow Yelper had just complemented me on my review after she ordered saying it helped them but then saw the next day that she was not impressed. So I wanted to try it again to see if my review was accurate. Also, since they are close we decided to order- one large pepperoni pizza and an order of meatballs. We wanted soda but they only had coke and diet coke and I don't like either so we opted out. They quoted 45 mins and it arrived within that time period. The pizza had a good amount of pepperoni and the crust was doughy but there was a good amount of grease and the middle was sloppy. The meatballs were very average. We requested ranch for a large pizza and they only gave us a small watery ranch container. Dolefully, not the experience we had last time.

today I had a hankering for pizza. Usually when I have a hankering for pizza and I am in near Victoria Park we go to big Louies. I had Italian bread last night at a different Italian restaurant in awhile to try the garlic rolls. Big Louie's. I asked for extra garlic sauce on the Italian rolls today. However, for some reason the roles were that good today I don't know if it was because the roles were overcooked but they just didn't seem to be soft and tender as I'm used to having them. We ordered the margarita pizza. It luckily was smaller than most pizzas we get there because I did stuff myself with garlic rolls and coke. Terrible combination by the way. we ordered the margarita pizza. On this day the pizza was okay it wasn't great I've had better pizza at other Italian restaurants and pizza joints. The good news it wasn't greasy it was okay. I'm so it was an OK of outing at big Louie's pizza.. The service was very good the waiters were very attentive always keeping my water and coke glass full. And also gave us free bruschetta bread at the beginning just to start us off. The bruschetta was flavorful I'll give him that so.

We came to big Louie's for our friend's 25th birthday. From the start, we were treated with no respect and likely judged because of our age. After one person ordered a beer in our party, we were promptly told that the restaurant would not serve us any alcoholic beverages. We were shocked to hear this after each ordering an entree and treating our server with respect. When we asked to speak to the manager he brushed us off and said he does not want to be responsible for us. We will not be dining here again.

Never again will I step into this place. I just finished ordering one slice of Pizza at this location only because I'm a huge pizza fan being a true New Yorker there's one thing we know more about then a good pizza. My first interaction was with a heavy set guy with a moustache who I asked if they sell pizza by the slice. His first response was Yes but you'll have to eat it at the tables outside. So while there were more than a handful of empty tables inside I was not allowed to eat inside and take up an inside table for a whole 10 minutes of their slow business time. Besides making me feel like less then a customer because I was trying out one slice of Pizza and being forced to eat outside in the humid Florida heat, the Pizza was less to be desired. A little tip on customer service. I wouldn't put a dog outside to eat in this hot weather no less a paying customer.

Came here last month after another restaurant up the street informed us it would be a two hour wait. The Garlic Rolls are fantastic!! I'm a garlic lover so I'm biased but these were good! My wife had the lasagna and I had the spaghetti both were good. The service was good and the food came out fast for a hot humid night these folks were a nice form of relief.

I walk in, stand in front of the clerk to take my order. I stand there patiently waiting while clerk is on phone and a cook comes up and says "yes sir?" Who then proceeds to ignore me as i speak and starts talking to the clerk on the phone. I stand there, waiting... Waiting... Waiting as the two continue to talk back and forth for a few minutes, all literally right in front of me as im staring at them. And so after about 5 minutes of this i iust left and went next door instead. Wont be coming back to try the food, zero tolerance having to pay for poor service like that

horrible, horrible food, terrible lasagna, and poor service, I told the host and waitress the lasagna was just plain bad, and they couldn't care less about it. I would never ever go back to this hell hole.

Family and I have been eating at Big Louies for 25 years. Last night found out they have been lying to their customers. My father is a vegan. He ordered once again his favorite dish (pizza with marinara only). I then asked the server to have the cook wipe the knife before cutting so not to contaminate his pizza with cheese. The server then asked if he was allergic and we told him NO just a vegan. That's when the server told us that all their sauces contain cheese. I told the server we have been eating and ordering the same thing for my father for over 25 years at Big louies. The server told us the Marinara has cheese in it. I told them we order the same thing every time and also tell the server and the server said they were sorry but their Marinara sauce has cheese. We kindly got up and told the server we were leaving. On the way out I asked for the manager and a young lady told us she was the manager and we told her the story. I told her she needs to educate her staff about their guests needs for a vegan. She ignored us and started to help one of her servers at the resister. I tried to get her attention again with no response. Big Louies should be ashamed of themselves for hiring a manage staff member that would just ignore us like that. We have never had a complaint about Big Louies food in the past and I am disappointed for the service the manager provided us. Our server at the table I would like to say thank you for having the knowledge he had to warn us about the sauce. It saddens us all that we will no longer have big Louies Restaurant to dine at in the future. My Granddaughter really liked their subs.

Classic Italian food at very reasonable prices and great service!! Pizza, Pasta and the garlic roles! Always my first stop upon arriving at Ft. Lauderdale! Great atmosphere! Take out or delivery options as well!

We visit Big Louis' pizza every time we come to Fort Lauderdale (from Atlanta.) Ahmed is super nice and his pizza is fabuloso! He always comes over to say hello. Nice personal touch and an incredible value. Highly recommended for a quick inexpensive meal.

Absolutely the worst place to eat. Their version of a chicken parm hero: cold bread, diced unbreaded chicken cutlet, sauce, grated cheese; no mozzarella, not toasted! WTF! I knew I should have just gone to Subway...ugh

Love the pizza and calzones. Give it a shot at this pizza, forget Papa Johns, Pizza Hut got nothing. Fresh pizza is here.

    (4)
  • C B.

The baked ziti was watery and "baked" only by a broiler long enough to melt the cheese. Service was attentive, but on the boarder of being annoying. The locals were consuming the pizza so that may be the reason to stop.

OK I'm reading some of these reviews and agree on some points but not on others. If you have a problem with delivery times, go pick it up or order somewhere else. It definitely is rather 'hole in the wall-ish' but parking is AMPLE and there's plenty of it. I should know I live in walking distance to this shopping plaza. I have never had their pizza or calzone so I can't speak to that nor have I ever ordered delivery or pickup...but I will.... Here's what I do like about this place 1- it's family owned and operated 2- it's small and not chain like in it's offerings 3- there's plenty of parking and it is conveniently located by my house and therefore on the way to the beach! 4- Garlic Rolls- see my pix, they are amazing. Like garlic and olive oil sponges that sop up the wholesome goodness. Warm and crusty covered in parm cheese or dipped in your tomato sauce it's amazing!! 5-Portion Sizes- H*U*G*E and especially for the money. Their lunch sized pasta offerings are almost laughable (Cheesecake Factory Style) in their sheer enormity. My pasta dish was $7.95 or $8.95 (cheap!) esp for all that food 6- Their Gravy- amazing they have a really nice chunky, not too spicy, sauce yum! In summation, if you are close to the beach, want an inexpensive Italian meal with no frills this is your place. My only suggestion is to share because their portion sizes are HUGE. I wish they were open late night like Primanti Brothers so we could get drunk late night pizza!

Came here again last night with a party of 4 people. We ordered a calamari salad which I thought the salad was dress well, and the calamari was prepared right, tasty and not chewy at all. The house provided some free bruschetta and they were terrific. The garlic rolls were very good too. We decided to order the same pizza the last time we were here and it came out great. It was not as salty as before and the crust was great. It looks like we can start and dine in more frequently now.

I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience. Classic and traditional Italian food in a large portion at a reasonable price. I almost always have some to take home with me for a separate meal. The service is usually quick and friendly. Now that I've moved a block away, I know where I'll be ordering my pizza from!

  • Brandi D.

Flies are flying all around in here. They charged me $4.00 extra to add mozzarella cheese and gravy to fries! Really?!?! I could have ordered a whole basket for $4.00 with the cheese and gravy! Grrr I was happy with service and was going to tip well until this. Food was ok however please look up Italian Panini!!! I'm Italian... This was no Panini! See my photo. Also fries I didn't even barely eat. Soggy soggy. Never again.

Very nice casual neighborhood Italian restaurant Waiters are super attentive and friendly Food is very good, inexpensive and in large quantities, and the entrees can be shared and still quite a lot I enjoy the free garlic knots which are loaded with both garlic and olive oil

The Best Looking and Tasting Calzone i have ever had!! The ricotta and marinara sauce was so fresh i was impressed. The slice of pizza is always good with great service and a comforting environment.

Worst pizza experience of our life. Delivered wrong order. Couldn't speak a word of English. Called order line. Put on hold 3 times to wait for "manager" who never came. Ended up eating bread rolls from hotel. Please do not order from this place. Ever. Ever.

First time visiting Louie's and loved it! We were greeted and given a table right away, food came in great portions and promptly. We started off with a house salad and Caesar salad along with complimentary bruschetta that were all excellent and large portions. Our entrees were the Tortellini Alfredo and the Chicken Parmesan. Both were excellent dishes and very large. All the food tasted fresh and home made. Our serve Matt was excellent and upbeat and had everything come out very timely. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and come back again.

Hands down one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. I ordered two pizzas got home and they were horrible. Chewy dough. Just plain nasty. I will never try them again. Wish there was a negative star.

Great family place. Portions are big and easy to split. We enjoyed mussels with linguini, chicken picatta, and the kids split a pizza. The chicken and mussels were $15 can came with garlic rolls, salad and bruschetta. Tons of delicious food filled our table. Our server was kind of rushed and a little stressed bc he was busy. But the food arrived promptly. Would definitely recommend this place for a casual home cooked Italian dinner.

You come here for the pizza and it never disappoints. The best pizza in the pompano area. Everything about it is solid. It's just a great pizza overall. Great crust, fantastic sauce. The garlic rolls are good, but need some marinara sauce on the side to down them. The house salad is a nice addition with their creamy house Italian dressing. Been going here for years and won't stop!

  • Chad D.

Everything we had was amazing and authentic!! Between 5 of us, we had the chicken piccata, pizza, bruschetta, linguine with mussels, house and Caesar salads. Every single dish was delicious!! We need them to open up in Nashville!!

LOVE the pizza, STAY AWAY from the wings. I've been ordering delivery from Big Louie's for about 15 years. I've never ever had an issue with the pizza. When you ask for extra cheese you REALLY get extra cheese which is so so nice. But sometimes I just want to switch it up a little bit and add some wings to the mix, and they usually have a special that combines them with the pizza. FIVE times I've given them an opportunity to make right on the wings. I absolutely can't stand a mushy chicken wing, so I always ask for them to be made well done no matter where I go. The first time I let it go. The second time I sent them back to the restaurant and had them redeliver them. The third time I swore I'd never order them again from them (and believe me I literally BEG them on the phone to make them well done). The fourth time (and I know by now you're asking "what's the definition of insanity?!") I just went ahead and rebaked them in my oven to crisp them up. Now the fifth time was the nail in the coffin. I was having my son's birthday party and we ordered several pizzas and rather than having to go across town to the restaurant that I know makes great wings, I opted for the convenience of just getting the 50 wings from Big Louies. Big Mistake. I must have spent at least a minute or two explaining to the man who took my order how important it was to get these cooked right. I even told him I'd prefer them to err on the side of overcooked than undercooked. Well don't you know I got the same mushy chicken wings as always but this time I got 50 of them. Yay! Clearly they have a timer on that fryer and when that buzzer goes off that's it. They;re coming out no matter what. Again, I love this restaurant for a lot of things. Their chicken diablo is to die for if you like a good Italian spicy dish and I think the pizza is about as good as you can get down in south town, but stay away from those wings! Unless you happen to be a fan of mushy mushy undercooked. BUUUT.....the blue cheese that comes with the wings...AMAZING! HUGE HUGE HUGE chunks of blue cheese! Next time I'll just order the celery and blue cheese and forget the wings! LOL! And the reason I gave them 3 stars instead of 4 for the food is because they just don't listen, and that bothers me. :-(

Ordered a margarita pizza & eggplant pram Dinner . Not so happy & our server wasn't the friendliest . It was like he'd rather be someplace else , anyway The food did not make up for it . Iv ordered a generic pizza from here before & it was amazing . So I'll stick to that for a next time quick pizza to go . As far as the special pizzas & menu ..sorry no thank you

It's been awhile since I've been here, but I seriously love this place. The pizza is excellent, my personal advice; order the veggie pizza. It's perfectly thin crusted and loaded with flavor and veggies. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. Overall a friendly atmosphere and spacious layout, great for groups and families. Authentic Italian pizza a few blocks from the beach, you can't really go wrong here.

I always look forward to going to Big Louie's. It is laid back and friendly and never feels touristy, even though it's less than a mile away from the beach. Their food is delicious, service is quick and courteous, and they are appropriately busy (little to no wait for seating, but not so empty that you wonder if their food is any good). I have had their spaghetti, several types of their pizza, their side garden salad, and their chicken cacciatore. I liked all of those dishes, and they give you a lot of food (which seems appropriate for an Italian restaurant). My chicken cacciatore leftovers lasted me for three more meals! They also give you garlic rolls with A LOT of garlic on them. They're delicious, but be careful who you breathe on. The atmosphere is, as I said above, laid back. This isn't a good place for a first date or a place to impress your parents, but it's a great place to go with friends after a visit to the beach or before a trip to the movies (if you have a place to put your leftovers). They also have a little area with outdoor seating that is tucked away in a little garden. It's very cute, but I have never sat there. Their menu is pretty extensive, but stays true to its Italian identity. Lots of pasta, lots of pizza, lots of cheese.

Great food, their eggplant is to die for as is their mussels fra diabolo, angel hair pasta and vodka sauce is great. Prices are great and they deliver to me all the time. When I dine there Sheila is my server of choice. Love it here

We are here from Seattle and were looking for great pizza and we found it here! Also, the salad was huge and the garlic rolls were amazing. To top it off, our waiter gave us the best service we've had since we've been here. We might eat here again before heading back to Washington.

I ate here a week ago and it was very good. I asked if they deliver to my address and I was really excited when they said yes. I called to order a pizza tonight and was told that they do not deliver this far. I am 4 miles away! Major disappointment.

  • Samantha P.

This review is about the food- how I judge an Italian restaurant is with the sauce and meatballs- so I got them as an appetizer- meatballs weren't tender the flavor was blah and the sauce is super greasy. Garlic rolls were tough like the bread was old or over mixed and the garlic they sauteed was bitter like they burnt it a little and instead of throwing away the bad stuff they used it and mixed it in to the clean garlic. Its just ok- the food seems to go through phases not consistent. I can't say I would never eat there again because it's just ok not gonna eat there again anytime soon. Hopefully next time I do go the food will be in a better phase. ... hit or miss. ... be consistent and keep the quality. .. you guys can do so much better!

  • M C.

Pizza is good if you eat in. But unless you're prepared to wait well over an hour for delivery (even if you live within a mile of the restaurant) and get your pizza cold & rubbery, spare yourself the aggravation and order somewhere else. Each time I called they'd say the delivery guy already left. Right... First time I let it go, 2nd time I was rather irate, but figured the guy must have a rough schedule. By the 3rd time I had enough, wanted to talk to the owner about their (lack of) service and was met with a very rude, arrogant and very defensive owner. My own fault for ordering from them more than once. You better believe they will not ever see another penny of mine. Owner might want to sign up for some customer service classes.

  • Jim D.

The food and price are good as well as the service. The salads that come with the meal is good as well as the garlic bread balls. I usually have the Chicken Florentine which is really good as well as the baked eggplant, I always take a doggy bag home for the doggy, ME **** Update Their restaurant on Commercial Blvd is closed and a new one is taking its place, that may good news because the service and the food selection was not as good as their Sunrise location.

I went to lunch yesterday at Big Louie's and ordered the Hawaiian pizza. It was so good I couldn't stop eating it and I wanted to order another. This is a good place to eat. I haven't tried anything else on the menu. I saw that they also had wings and the people next to us were eating them and really loved them.

  • Marqus R.

Having tried Big Louie's and several selections since my first Three Star review of it, I've come across several places, equal in price, all with better service and better food, so as far as I'm concerned I have and I am experiencing better. Hence I wouldn't be inclined to recommend it and now minus one star since: "Meh! I've experienced better." Matter of fact, my downgrade may be more on point if I'd add that in my mind, the place is slipping.

Nice little place, close to the Hollywood Blvd I-95 exit (1 mile). We went there for take-out, the lady at the counter was very welcoming! The pizza was delicious, however be prepared to pay the price: $23 for a 16" pizza and a topping. We wished this place was more affordable, so we would come every week.

  • Ana D.

Big Louie's doesn't offer the best Italian food I've ever tasted, but their food is pretty decent considering how affordable they are. The fried calamari (appetizer) and chicken parmesan (entree) are my go to meals whenever I visit. While I would only give the food about three stars, they get an extra star for the experience. Though the restaurant is nothing amazing, fancy, or out of the ordinary, their staff is quick, pleasant and attentive.

My husband and I absolutely love this place!! You get free garlic bread AND bruschetta! All the food is fantastic. Pizza is yummy. I highly recommend their chicken parm ;-) don't waste your time on the baked ziti, that was the one dish I've had there that was slightly sub par. The servers are all fun and super nice.

I love this place! The food is fresh and good! Even the delivery order was hot! Plus the delivery guy was very nice. I got 6 wings, house salad, personal pan, rolls and cheesecake for $25! Woop! A great way to binge before my bikini competition training!

  • Nate H.

The place got 3 stars just for being open for delivery at 10:45 on a Sunday night! The service was fast and courteous. The thin crust pep pizza was zesty, cheesy and hearty...the thin part is difficult on delivery, but they did their best. The personal Tuscan pizza was a bit too chewy. Stick with the traditional thin. Their salads and sandwiches are great too! Big Louie has a great restaurant too, but the delivery is dependable all 7 nights!

This is one of those places I've driven past many times and always wanted to experience. I finally did it and was a little disappointed. First, their menu was extensive so there was no lack of choice for dinner. Just about any Italian fare including classic meat and seafood dishes plus pizza, of course. After ordering, we were treated to a couple of delicious bruschetta - tasty tomatoes and lots of garlic. Just the way I like it and a pleasant surprise to start the meal! After ordering a bottle of wine, we were disappointed to learn they didn't have it. In fact, they only had two varieties out of several on the menu. So Chianti it is and it was decent enough. And, the server opened a new full bottle for us after an errant fly landed in my glass. We ordered a make-your-own pizza with our usual favorites. It came quickly but it was just a shade past tepid. We were surprised that the Italian sausage and pepperoni didn't have much flavor. And it looked like the black olives we had ordered were missing - maybe they were out of those too. We asked for a couple of cannoli for dessert and guess what . . . out of those too! On the plus side, our server was pleasant, gracious, friendly and attentive. And the price for the entire meal was under $50 including a bottle of wine. If you don't care what's available on the menu and you want a price that's hard to beat - this is the place!

I've been a patron for 30 years and typically have home delivery. Home delivery is always prompt but before I would pay, I would inspect it first. I don't know what is responsible for their steady decline. The last 3 pizzas was undercooked and don't ever order the fried calamari. It tasted like it was old and then cooked in a deep fryer again to warm it up. Could not chew it. Had to throw it away. Unless they get their act together they will have ruined what used to be a local legend!

    (1)
  • Jameson D.

Solid cheap pizza. Go here for take out- dont expect Anthony's level of culinary excellence- but you won't pay much either. Great alternative to the big chains.

  • Joe D.

Decided to go in for lunch. My wife and I ordered the house salad and had the Stromboli calzone and finished off with a cappuccino. The portions are big so we had plenty for take out. Everything including the service was a pleasant surprise. We definitely will be back!

    (4)
  • Jill P.

Just so-so. Their "Margherita" pizza is just plain cheese pizza -- actually kind of good if that's what you want (salty, no fresh mozzarella, no fresh basil), but definitely bad if you expect margherita. What's sadly horrible is the pasta. Mushy with basically a can of tomato paste dumped on top - same way each time I've tried it. No fresh parmigiano available. If they could make good pasta and have a better wine selection I'd go back.

Well every 3+ star rating here is true. Yelp out for Big Louis. Food very good. Dinner for 9 for 69 bucks delivered. Plus we have leftovers for tomorrow. Loved the garlic rounds. Everyone gets a side salad. Classic.

I'm an eggplant parmigiana connoisseur. I've been to extravagant, over-the-top, expensive Italian restaurants, but Big Louie's has by FAR some of the BEST eggplant parmigiana that I've ever had. I love eggplant, and this is usually my first choice when going to an Italian restaurant. I would've given it 5 stars, but the people are snobs when I call in to order. Very rude. When I've actually come here to sit down and eat, the service was okay, but nothing to write home about. Oh, and the only down-side to the food is that the salad sucks. The lettuce is always rotten.

    (4)
  • Janice A.

I feel that 4 stars is a bit high, but I really have no qualms with our experience here. It was a tasty pizza (traditional chicken parmigiana), friendly service (with complimentary also tasty brucsetta), nice ambiance, and fairly priced. I prefer deep dish, but this pizza wasn't burnt or too crispy as I've run into with thin crust before. I did, however, scuff my new red heels on their brick walk way that was rather devastating... beware the holes in the grout.

Placed an order for a pizza delivery at 7:30 pm. Obviously gave an address and phone number. At 9:00 pm no pizza. Called and were told that they don't deliver to our address, however, they did go ahead and charge the debit card for the trouble. Ridiculous. No one was ever going to call us. Primanti Bros. can you ever forgive us for looking elsewhere?

I wish I could give this place zero stars! I have never had such terrible service in my entire life. I had food delivered and when I realized they were missing part of my order I called to ask if they could deliver the rest. Granted, I was only missing the french fries I ordered and the side of ranch, I live less than a mile away, so i do not think it was too much to ask. They told me that they would not deliver the missing food! Are you serious? When I asked to speak with a manager the chick on the phone hung up on me! I thought that maybe it was just this one person so I gave it another try and picked up food this time. I was shocked at how disgusting the kitchen was. Okay food, terrible service, dirty kitchen.

It is a tragedy that this is not 5 stars on yelp. Seriously, I am in love with Big Louies. I was in Fort Lauderdale twice this year and ate there repeatedly. In fact, I'd go back just for Big Louie's. You cannot beat the food and the price. The food is outstanding! The garlic bread will change your life and probably your waist line but that's ok! It's THAT good! I wish there were a Big Louie's everywhere because it is one of my favorite restaurants.

Great pizza, but absolutely terrible service. So horrible that nothing else even matters. I think it's mostly management that is the most rude, which is even worse. The delivery driver left me with some of the stuff missing, and I actually had to GO pick it up!! Which I SO did not want to do. When I got there, the man did not have any smile whatsoever, and rudely handed me over what I had left. Even the driver was unfriendly. Ugh, makes me want to never order there again, or tell anyone else to.

I really don't enjoy writing negative reviews but I know it's helpful for those looking for a good meal based on reviews. I'm from New York City and came to Fort Lauderdale for a weeks vacation and figured I would try Big Louie's Pizzeria on Sunrise Blvd with the family based on the reviews I read. We ordered a large "margarita pizza" as well as a large regular "NY style pie" and of course a dozen "garlic rolls". Garlic Rolls (knots): The presentation looked good but the taste was not there. When I order garlic rolls or knots in NY, you can actually smell and taste the garlic but Big Louie's rolls where drenched and dripping in oil (be careful if you have any heart issues) and overloaded with fresh chopped garlic (un-cooked) which basically has very little taste other than a bit spicy for a child's pallet. This is not the way to make garlic rolls. Margarita Pizza: We ordered a large (16"): All I can say is please avoid ordering this altogether! I thought a margarita pie was supposed to be a thin crust with fresh cut mozzarella cheese and have a bit of a tangy taste from the sauce. We got a pie that looked like a regular cheese pie that was so soggy and had a very bland taste and what fresh cut mozzarella? It was the same cheese used on the regular pizza. The funny thing is that we ordered a large "NY style Pizza" as well and I will tell you that you could not tell the difference between the two. It was a waste of money! NY Style Pizza: All I have to say is that Big Louie was never in NY! If anyone knows NY pizza, you will know exactly what I mean. I am surprised that they would even have this on their menu because not only it's not NY pizza, it's not Florida pizza! It should be called "soggy bread with red sauce and cheap mozzarella cheese pizza". It is really a no taste or flavor pizza pie. The 2 pies, dozen garlic rolls and 5 sodas was $46+ $10 tip = $56 (not worth it)

Awesome find after an exhausting day at work. Huge portions, little cost. For $11 I had a couple gof large garlic knots (super rich and garlic), bruschetta, a salad (nearly large enough to be a dinner salad!) and a massive portion of cheese tortelli. Excellent service with a smile!

Big fan of their Southwest pizza and the Cheddar Chicken Broccoli, and appreciate the quick turnaround from their delivery service. Have been ordering a pie about once per week since moving to Ft Lauderdale and after trying some other pizzeria's in the area, Big Louie's is definitely at the top of the pack!

That this place has 3 stars is a joke. These people must be crazy. This is some of the best Italian outside of New York. It's not only incredible, but very reasonably priced, with good wines. Service is spectacular. Ambiance is very nice, and very much nicer than the price suggests.

I love italian food and Big Louies is typical american italian food that is done very well with big size portions for a moderate price. If you are looking for a fancy intimate experience Big Louies is not the place. This is a causual moderate priced Italian restaurant I would recommend for anyone to try. I have eaten here so many times I can not count but it I have never been dissapointed with the quality of food or the value. Also, the Pizza is good. It usually has a nice crispy crust with tangy tomato sauce and a great choice of toppings.

I live the Victoria Park neighborhood and highly enjoy the proximity of all the great restaurants in the Gateway Plaza. My partner and I love to go out for pizza on "the fly", in which this evening happened to be one of those strolls to the neighborhood pizza joint. I like the pizza at Big Louie's... not my all time fave, but it does the job. The customer service has always been alright. Actually there is one waitress there during the lunch hours who is super. We were hoping she would have greeted us this evening. NEGATIVE! My boyfriend walked in, waited for several minutes and decided to seat himself as I wrapped up a phone call outside. When I met inside, the waiter we were assigned was quite friendly.. nice guy. He brought us bruschetta that was surprisingly delicious. I ordered a glass of the Pinot Noir they have on their wine list. He brought that over and advised me that it had been chilled. I am not a wine snob, but I do have a well rounded palate that said "oh no... this has been left open in the cooler for too, too long." Our server was obviously aware that it could have been funky- he was the one he gave me the heads up about it being chilled. He said "This wine was accidentally chilled. If you don't like it I will bring you something else." (Something to that effect.) So, I ordered a glass of Chianti to have with our pizza. The pizza was good, however my b/f and I wondered who the heck sliced it.... it was a 12 inch sliced into really tiny slices AND 3 big slices... kind of weird, but whatever.. it tasted good. Now here is where our lighthearted, pre-holiday, me and my guy attitude flipped a switch: there are gnats/flies flying all over this restaurant. THREE of those landed (died) in my wine! I pointed this out our server, and he "graciously" apologized and offered to bring a fresh glass of wine. Aw that was nice of him! My b/f went to use the restroom... HEADSPIN! The waiter and his co-worker were MOCKING me in the open server station!!!!!! THE AUDACITY! As my b/f is telling me this, I HEAR them around the corner continuing to do so! This was NOT warranted whatsoever! I had been so polite to OUR waiter... and this blind-sighted me. I did not even make it a big deal- that is a FACT! When I heard it for myself I jumped out of my seat, head over the restroom area where there were huddled (next to the server station)... turns out the leader of this mockery was the taller, slender waiter that was working, he had salt with a dash a pepper hair.... HOW FLIPPING RUDE! Dude- here's to many flies in your drink when you come to MY RESTAURANT! Not only did I hear you, but the ladies at the table next us did as well! Disgraceful...

A must stop when we visit Florida. Their garlic rolls, their sauce (gravy) and their portions are the best!

Other than the super garlicky rolls (if you're really into garlic), everything was bleh. Heavy, large portions. Quantity definitely doesn't mean quality. Yeah, I wasn't expecting much. Yeah, I'm not a fan of American Italian food. I had just moved here, though, and was open to a no-frills place with comfort food. I still like some homey lasagna and some pizza once in a while. Even with those expectations in mind, it was still bleh. Never went back there again, and don't plan on ever doing so.

Great Italian food. I've been to Catalina and LaDolce Vita and together they do not compare to this Resturant. This was our second trip to Big Louies and the food was excellent not to mention the price. For a party of 3 and with a bottle of wine we spent $70 and had a seafood platter and appetizer, salad and a pizza and dessert ....we could not finish our food. I regret going to either Catalina or LaDolce Vita as the bill was triple the price and the food was horrible in comparison to Big Louie's. I think our impression of food in the Fort Lauderdale was complete with our visit to Big Louise. On the outside of the Resturant you'd never guess...but the service and food was impeccable. Highly recommended for a great value and tasty meal. This was our second visit during our week in Fort Lauderdale and I think we will go back before our departure to Canada on Friday. Overall great value for an excellent meal and impeccable service.

This is the worst pizza I've had. I tried it several times when I first moved to Fort Lauderdale, and several of their locations- and they all sucked!! Awful, Awful, pizza. I didn't think you could mess up pizza, but Big Louie's proved me wrong.

Nice name and hype but consistantly bad pizza unless you like flavorless, undercooked, wonderbred type dough pizza...

I was in Florida 6/17-6/20 and it seemed everywhere we went there were pizza joints. And when you were walking along the streets the smell invited you in. My friend and I resisted as long as we could. Finally on our last day we decided to have pizza for lunch before we headed to the airport so we stopped at Big Louies. We both decided on one of the lunch specials the 2 slices with 2 topping and 2 garlic knots, I believe it was like $5.25. The garlic knots came out first and were at big as my fist and very good! I just ordered a water to drink and the waitress was very attentive making sure my glass was always full. When the pizza came out I was like "WOW" the slices were huge! And they were very good as well. I ordered pepperoni/black olive and being from Texas also a slice of pepperoni/jalepeno. We were both so stuffed! You could def make two meals outta this. I am so glad we stopped in it was so good!

It's an ok place. Don't expect much and you should be ok. Servers aren't that great. You do get decent sized portions for the price, but blah.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
